Rediscovering Beauty Blogging: A Personal Journey

In the early 2000s, an African philosopher famously stated, "As long as there is life, there is hope." While I may not be a philosopher, I find myself reflecting on this as I return to blogging after a six-year hiatus. The word "blog" feels somewhat outdated, evoking memories of a time that, while not too distant, seems like a lifetime ago. Six years without sharing my thoughts feels significant, yet it has passed in the blink of an eye.

Recently, I've been contemplating my return, inspired by conversations with friends who still remember my passion for beauty. This brings me to the question of why I want to revive this blog. For me, the beauty content landscape has changed dramatically, and I miss the depth and engagement that traditional blogging offered. Social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok often feel superficial; while entertaining, they seldom provide the in-depth information I crave. I appreciate these platforms for discovering new restaurants, but when it comes to beauty, I prefer detailed articles with genuine insights and advice.

Podcasts, too, have not filled the void. Although there are numerous engaging shows, none have resonated with me in the beauty realm. I find myself leaning towards written media, which is where my comfort lies. YouTube has also shifted, with a heavy focus on makeup and haul videos that don’t capture my interest.

This leads me to ponder who my audience might be. I can't be the only beauty enthusiast feeling nostalgic for the days of print magazines and dedicated blogs. Having spent nearly two decades in the beauty industry, I believe I have valuable insights to share, and I want to do so in a joyful and engaging manner.
