In a significant move for 2026, the Caisse d’allocations familiales (CAF) is enhancing its support for families planning vacations. By broadening eligibility criteria and increasing financial support, the goal is clear: to enable nearly half of all households to travel without compromising their yearly budget.

Increased Family Quotient to Include More Parents

One of the most impactful changes this year is the increase in the resource ceiling for accessing child vacation aid (AVE). Previously, many families found themselves just above the threshold, missing out on essential support. In 2026, the maximum family quotient is raised to 950 euros. This adjustment has tangible effects, allowing one in two beneficiary families to qualify for this funding.

If you previously thought these aids were out of reach, now is the time to revisit your personal account. This increase better reflects the realities faced by modest households and the middle class, who struggle to finance quality vacations for their children.

Summer Camps Made More Accessible with Enhanced Support

Sending children to summer camps ensures they create lasting memories, gain independence, and make new friends. To facilitate these experiences for youths aged 6 to 17, the CAF is raising its financial contribution. The aid can now cover 70% to 80% of the total cost of the stay.

For parents of children born in 2015, or those born in 2014 who have yet to utilize this benefit, there is additional good news: the Pass colo. This state aid, ranging from 200 to 350 euros, is fully compatible with CAF assistance. In some cases, this results in minimal out-of-pocket expenses for parents, making the idea of sending their children to camp a feasible option for summer or short breaks.

Simplified Organization Eliminates Upfront Costs

One of the main barriers to vacationing is often the need to pay upfront costs. For many families on tight budgets, spending several hundred euros in anticipation of future reimbursements is simply not possible. The Vacaf system addresses this issue effectively: aid is paid directly to the vacation organization.

In practice, eligible families will receive a notification in their “My Account” space on the CAF website. They can then choose from among 4,000 options listed on vacaf.org, whether it be camping, holiday villages, or group stays. At the time of booking, only the portion that remains payable by the parents will be required. This streamlined process allows families to focus on what truly matters: deciding between the sea, mountains, or countryside for their getaway.

It is important to note that these aids are allocated within the limits of available annual funds. As is often the case with vacations, planning ahead remains your best strategy to ensure a summer filled with relaxation and discovery for your family.
