In an unexpected collaboration, Louis Vuitton and Singer have reimagined two Porsche 911 models, showcasing an extraordinary blend of luxury and automotive craftsmanship. This partnership features bespoke elements such as a Tambour watch, handcrafted leather, custom luggage, and fashion designed by Nicolas Ghesquière. What began as a project for a dashboard clock has evolved into one of the most intriguing luxury collaborations of the year.

The two distinct vehicles are based on the Porsche 911 of the 964 series, merging Singer's Restomod expertise with Louis Vuitton's iconic design language. As of now, neither company has disclosed pricing or plans for a potential series production.

The Origin of the Collaboration

The collaboration started with a modest idea: Louis Vuitton was initially tasked with creating a mechanical clock for the dashboard of a Singer-modified Porsche 911. However, the project quickly expanded. The watchmakers at La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton collaborated with Singer to design additional instruments, including the speedometer and tachometer. According to Singer, the development of these instruments alone took approximately a year.

The design draws inspiration from Louis Vuitton's Tambour watches, featuring cobalt blue displays accented with orange details. Notably, the mechanical clock can be removed from the dashboard for use outside the vehicle.

The project extended beyond the cockpit, involving Louis Vuitton's leather goods specialists, trunk makers, and teams from fashion and footwear.

The Saffron Classic Coupé

The first vehicle is a Porsche 911 Reimagined by Singer – Classic, based on a 964 Coupé. This newly crafted carbon body is adorned in saffron, complemented by cobalt blue and yellow accents.

Beneath the surface, a 4.0-liter air-cooled six-cylinder engine powers the car, paired with a manual six-speed transmission, rear-wheel drive, and carbon-ceramic brakes.

The true Louis Vuitton effect is evident in the interior, where natural-colored leather meets yellow stitching and the renowned Malletage pattern, inspired by the padded interiors of historical Louis Vuitton trunks. Even the seat ventilation openings are shaped like monogram flowers, with similar motifs appearing on the sun visors and headrests. Many plastic components have been replaced with custom-made metal parts.

To further extend the concept beyond the car, a roof rack accommodates items such as surfboards or skis, transforming this Restomod into a nearly complete Louis Vuitton travel set on wheels.

The Fashion-Forward Classic Turbo Cabriolet

The second vehicle leans even more into the fashion aspect, with Nicolas Ghesquière, Artistic Director of Louis Vuitton's women's collections, taking the helm in designing the Classic Turbo Cabriolet.

This white cabriolet is also based on the Porsche 964 series, featuring a 3.8-liter six-cylinder engine with twin-turbocharging. Singer has equipped it with a manual six-speed transmission, rear-wheel drive, carbon-ceramic brakes, and a distinctive whale-tail rear spoiler.

Ghesquière has combined light-colored leather and gold accents with striking wood finishes, drawing inspiration from classic motorboats. The area behind the seats, with its lacquered wood deck, evokes the feel of a luxurious runabout.

Fashion references are subtly integrated into the cockpit, with the leather covering of the gear shifter reflecting the design of the Louis Vuitton Noé bag, while the Tambour-inspired watch is centrally located in the console.

To complement the driver, Louis Vuitton designed a matching capsule collection that includes clothing, gloves, shoes, sunglasses, and a coordinated helmet. This collaboration showcases Louis Vuitton's ability to blend various product worlds, a strategy they have successfully employed in past projects.

A Cohesive Luxury Experience

The Louis Vuitton x Singer Porsche collaboration stands out as more than just a limited-edition car model.
