Ryan Murphy Considers a Reboot of 'Glee'

The conversation around reviving popular series has gained traction in recent years, yet some shows are better left untouched. One such candidate for reconsideration appears to be the beloved comedy-musical series "Glee."

Ryan Murphy, the creator of the original series, recently revealed that he is contemplating the possibility of developing a reboot. He expressed his thoughts, stating, "'Glee' is interesting because it’s coming back: so many young people are seeing it now. And I think to myself: maybe we should revisit the series. My nostalgic feelings and love for the show are strong enough that I think, 'Hmm, maybe people would want to see a new incarnation in some form.' So yes, I love the show, and I love what it became and the lasting impression it has left on many people."

However, reactions on social media have been largely negative, with many users expressing their reluctance towards the idea. Some comments highlight that "Glee" was a masterpiece and suggest that younger audiences should simply watch the original series instead. Additionally, Murphy is known for casting actors who have previously worked with him, leading to ironic remarks that he would likely choose familiar faces like Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Kathy Bates, and Jessica Lange for a potential reboot.

"Glee" originally aired on FOX from 2009 to 2015, spanning six seasons and a total of 121 episodes. The series also saw the release of DVDs and CDs, a concert tour, and a concert film, along with two seasons of "The Glee Project."

The show faced a significant downturn following the tragic and unexpected death of Cory Monteith, who played Finn Hudson, in July 2013. Murphy had previously indicated that the series might have been better off concluding after Monteith's passing.
