Alain's Departure Shatters Elisabeth's Hopes
The relationship between Alain and Becker appears to be improving, but the recent turmoil has left its mark. After enduring particularly challenging days, Alain feels the need to escape Montpellier for a while to recharge.
He visits the hospital and requests a few days off from Clémence, who agrees. When she inquires about his plans, Alain admits he hasn't decided where to go; he simply wants to be in a place where he knows no one.
Meanwhile, a gathering is held to pay final respects to Nicolas Fourneau. Elisabeth watches the funeral from a distance. Valérie spots her and approaches, expressing admiration for Elisabeth's courage in attending and thanking her for making the effort. Elisabeth expresses her sorrow over her actions and the events that transpired. Valérie reassures her that no one could have foreseen such a tragedy and hopes that Elisabeth will eventually reconcile with Alain.
Upon returning home, Elisabeth finds Alain packing his bags. He informs her of his impending departure, leading to an emotional conversation. "Is that it? You're leaving just like that, without telling me more? I don't know, we could talk about how you see things between us. Alain, tell me we still have a small chance," she pleads. Unfortunately, Alain's response is a definitive no, and he leaves.
Becker's Cheating Scandal Unfolds During the Race
The day of the cycling race has arrived! Commissioner Becker has organized a criterium to strengthen team bonds. While Becker aims for the podium, Hugo is also eager to impress his father-in-law. He prepares a champion's breakfast of pasta with anchovies, but soon finds himself feeling unwell.
Later, Alex, Hugo, and Clément gather at the starting line, where Alix signals the beginning of the race. Becker takes an early lead, while Alex and Hugo lag behind. Unfortunately, Hugo's stomach issues force him to stop in the woods, leaving Alex to continue alone to save face.
As the race progresses, Becker begins to tire and stops at a secluded spot to rest. He allows a few cyclists to pass before setting a timer on his phone. When the timer goes off, he resumes racing, unaware that Christian Prudhomme, who is driving by, witnesses his actions.
Moments later, Becker crosses the finish line first, followed closely by Alex. The crowd congratulates him, but Prudhomme confronts Becker, indicating he knows about the cheating. During the trophy presentation, Becker ultimately confesses the truth and hands the trophy to Alex, the rightful winner of the criterium. Christian commends Becker for his honesty.
