Updating the Marquee Scroller: A Comprehensive Guide
This guide provides a step-by-step process for updating the Marquee Scroller to version 2.18, addressing common issues and detailing the necessary preparations.

The Marquee Scroller project continues to evolve, thanks to the vibrant community on GitHub. Users can now enjoy the latest version without the need for reflashing. However, a few minor hurdles remain. This guide aims to address these challenges and assist you in installing the latest update via the web interface.
Recently, I've received numerous emails from users experiencing issues with time settings. After the recent daylight saving time change, my clock also began to malfunction. A glance at the changelog for the latest version (2.18) of the Marquee Scroller pointed to a solution. If your clock is struggling to display the correct time, this update may be beneficial.

01. Preparation
Before we dive into the update process, it’s advisable to back up all API keys. Most settings will be lost during the installation of the update, so it's essential to temporarily save your critical inputs in a text file. Unfortunately, there is no function on the web interface for this, so manual copying is necessary.
Next, download the latest version of the Marquee Scroller from the GitHub website.

Under “Configure,” you will find two fields for your user account at the bottom. Create a user, for example, “admin,” set a password, and save your entries. After this, disconnect your smart clock from the power source, wait two minutes, and then restart it.
Now, let’s see what’s next. Back on the web interface, navigate to the “Firmware Update” section. After clicking on it, you will be prompted to log in with your user account.
Once logged in, you can finally proceed with the update. Upload the appropriate file for your device and click on Update.
