The acclaimed film Glory, which won three Oscars, is celebrated as a significant historical drama from the late 1980s. Zwick's grievances extend beyond Patricia Broderick's behavior to include Matthew's response to the situation. He recalls Broderick remaining “assis dans un silence opaque” while the conflict unfolded, which Zwick found particularly troubling. While he does not dismiss the difficulties he faced, he acknowledges that Broderick was dealing with personal and professional struggles at the time, including the loss of his father and the pressures of newfound fame after the success of Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Zwick asserts that it’s challenging to comprehend the weight of such responsibilities on a young actor.

The revelations from Zwick have not been well-received by those close to Matthew Broderick. While Broderick himself has not publicly responded, his representative expressed disappointment over Zwick's decision to revisit these long-standing issues in the promotion of his memoirs. The representative stated, “Même si les souvenirs peuvent varier à propos de ce qui s’est passé il y a toutes ces années, je trouve déroutant et triste qu’un réalisateur ayant connu une si belle carrière se plie à une telle méchanceté pour vendre quelques livres.”
