Upcoming Adaptations and New Releases in Cinema
Explore upcoming film adaptations and new releases, including Jane Austen's 'Raison et Sentiments' and Robert Eggers' 'Werwulf'.

The cinematic landscape is set to welcome a new adaptation of Jane Austen's classic novel, Raison et Sentiments, following the well-received version directed by Ang Lee in 1995. This latest rendition, helmed by Georgia Oakley, stars Daisy Edgar-Jones and Caitriona Balfe, alongside George McKay. Audiences can look forward to its theatrical release on September 23, 2026.
In a trend of revisiting beloved stories, Warner Bros. is reportedly developing a remake of the cult classic Sauvez Willy, originally directed by Simon Wincer in 1993. This film, which tells the story of a boy's friendship with a captive orca, gained fame for its emotional narrative and led to three sequels. The new project is being co-produced by the Russo Brothers, promising a fresh take on this nostalgic tale.
As filmmakers continue to explore various mythologies, Robert Eggers is set to delve into the world of werewolves with his upcoming film, Werwulf. Described as brutal and bloody, the film features Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Lily Rose-Depp. Werwulf is scheduled for release on January 6, 2027, just in time for the holiday season in the United States.
In addition to these adaptations, audiences can anticipate the first teaser of Godzilla Minus Zero, which serves as a follow-up to the acclaimed Minus One, also directed by Takashi Yamazaki. Unlike its predecessor, this new installment will receive a nationwide theatrical release on November 4, 2026.
