Cinema Quiz: Identify 9 Iconic Feline Scenes!

Today, August 8, marks International Cat Day, and in celebration, we present a quiz featuring memorable feline moments from cinema, spanning genres from comedy to science fiction and animated films.

Cats are often said to have nine lives, and this is already their third appearance in the AlloCiné quiz series! Two years ago, the previous edition challenged participants to identify ten movie scenes featuring cats.

One of the questions featured an adorable close-up of a ginger cat lounging on the floor. The answer was rooted in the science fiction genre, as all options were drawn from this cinematic realm, including Ridley Scott's Blade Runner, Alien, and John Carpenter's The Thing. A significant majority correctly identified Jones, the cat belonging to Lieutenant Ripley from the original Alien film.

Beware of Traps!

Next up was a puzzling image of a black cat surrounded by scattered top hats. Few players selected Fantastic Beasts as their answer, and the challenge was to distinguish between The Illusionist and The Prestige. A large portion of participants managed to choose correctly, leaning towards Christopher Nolan's fifth feature film.

The following image transported us to a different universe entirely, showcasing Albert Dupontel holding a striped cat, seemingly meowing. However, the cat was actually Momo, the stuffed feline from Bernie, famously described in a dialogue as "a cat for many years but also a feline". An impressive 80% of players recognized this as Dupontel's directorial debut.

Originally, this quiz was set to coincide with the release of Garfield: A Tale of Two Kitties, but today, it serves to honor International Cat Day with nine new feline scenes for you to identify.
