ColourPop x Animal Crossing: A Vibrant Collection Unveiled

The highly anticipated collaboration between ColourPop and the beloved video game franchise Animal Crossing launched on January 28, 2021. This collection, themed around the latest installment of the game, quickly sold out within minutes of its release. Fortunately, I managed to secure the complete collection, which has since been restocked for those interested in purchasing individual items or the entire set.

The collection invites fans to embark on an island adventure, featuring four mini 4-pan eyeshadow palettes inspired by popular characters such as Tom Nook, Isabelle, and the Sable Sisters. It also includes three Mini Lip Tint Duos, flower-inspired Blush Compacts, a new shade of the iconic Super Shock Shadow, and a glitter gel named Bellionaire. An exclusive sticker sheet featuring beloved islanders is included with the complete collection.

While the prices are slightly higher than usual due to licensing fees, the complete collection retails for $125, with an additional $25 for customs fees. The customs costs are now calculated based on the total of your cart, eliminating any unexpected charges upon delivery.

Delivery times were longer than usual, with my order arriving on February 17. Thankfully, all items were intact, which was a relief given the number of palettes I ordered.

One of the standout features of this launch is the attention to detail, even extending to the themed packaging of the shipping box. For those who purchase the full collection, a fun bonus is the Animal Crossing sticker sheet.

Super Shock Shadow: "Balloon Pop"

As a fan of ColourPop's Super Shock Shadows, I find them incredibly easy to use. They can be applied alone for a quick look.

The packaging for "Balloon Pop" references the balloons in the game that players must pop to collect gifts. The embossed design adds a nice touch, visible only when light reflects off it.

The shadow itself is a frosty peach shade with pink and silver glitter, perfect for brightening the eyelids.

Priced at $7, it’s a delightful addition to any makeup collection.

Glitter Gel: "Bellionaire"

This product celebrates the game's currency, Bells. The packaging features a design reminiscent of a bag of Bells, enhancing its appeal.

Inside, the gel contains an array of glitter in various sizes, mimicking the look of scattered Bells. The texture allows for easy application without the mess typically associated with glitter.

The glitter is golden with silver and copper reflections, making it an excellent choice for artistic makeup looks.

This gel retails for $10.

To showcase these products, I created a makeup look using the Super Shock Shadow as a base, accentuated with the glitter gel. The gel’s formula eliminates the need for adhesive, although precision application with a brush may require some patience.

Floral Blush Duo

This duo features an orange blush paired with a pink one, each adorned with floral designs corresponding to their shades. The packaging design mirrors that of the blush itself, and both blushes come with a large mirror.

The orange shade, Flower Tender, is a coral hue with golden shimmer, while Flower Power is a lilac-tinged pink with a similar shimmer.

These blushes are highly pigmented, so it’s advisable to apply them lightly. The shimmer is subtle and not overly noticeable on the cheeks.

Shadow Palette Kit: "True Friends"

The collection includes four small palettes, each dedicated to a character from the game. The packaging is beautifully illustrated, featuring a gradient design with the main characters.

Each palette contains four shades with different finishes: matte, metallic, matte with glitter, and pressed glitter. The compact size makes them travel-friendly.

While they are all well-pigmented, be cautious of fallout, especially with the matte shades. Applying pressed glitters with fingers yields the best results.

This palette features a lilac color scheme with shades named after the Able Sisters and includes a lovely lavender and deep plum.

I used all the shades in a recent look, combining them for a soft yet colorful finish.

This palette reflects the iconic Nook Inc. branding, featuring a range of greens. The color story is versatile for various looks.

I created a look using shades from this palette, perfect for a fresh, nature-inspired makeup style.

This palette, inspired by Isabelle, showcases pastel yellows and corals, ideal for a soft summer look.

I used the colors to create a bright and cheerful eye look that embodies the spirit of the game.

WHAT A HOOT

This palette pays homage to Blathers and features earthy tones that can be used for both day and night looks.
