Exploring Love Through Innovative Performance Art

On December 13, 2022, an intriguing performance titled AMOR took place at Teatre El Musical, captivating audiences with its innovative approach to exploring the theme of love. Created by Pep Gatell and Cristina Casanova from LABA VALENCIA, the performance utilized technology to engage the audience in unexpected ways.
The performance began with a unique premise: what happens when the audience is left waiting outside the theater? This question set the stage for an experience that unfolded not just on the stage but also in the streets, inviting spectators to ponder the nature of love.
In collaboration with a group of educators and students from the International Master in Multimedia Creation for Performance, the artists employed the app Kalliope 2, allowing the audience to participate actively and share their experiences in real-time.
This performance offered a thought-provoking reflection on love, examining its various forms and profound impact on human lives. Whether it is physical, romantic, mystical, or sensory, love evokes strong emotions, stimulates introspection, and challenges our perceptions of existence, ultimately providing a sense of purpose.
The staging was a collaborative effort that included contributions from La Fura dels Baus, actors Roser Arroyas and Fran Asensi, dancer Lara Misó, and designer Eduardo Jairycovich. Together, they shattered conventional expectations about love, presenting it in a manner that was both surprising and enlightening.
