Four years prior to embodying Katniss in the dystopian series directed by Gary Ross, Jennifer Lawrence auditioned for the lead role in "Twilight," which was based on Stephenie Meyer’s bestselling novel. In a recent episode of the podcast "The Rewatchables," she humorously recounted her experience, stating, "I auditioned for Twilight. They rejected me immediately. I didn't even get a callback." As we all know, the role ultimately went to Kristen Stewart, while Robert Pattinson took on the character of Edward Cullen.
A Sweet Revenge with Robert Pattinson
Seventeen years after that audition, Jennifer Lawrence finally got her chance for redemption, as she revealed in the same podcast. In 2025, she starred alongside Robert Pattinson in the film "Die, My Love," directed by Lynne Ramsay. This casting marked a significant moment for Lawrence, who expressed her delight by saying, "It's the total revenge I dreamed of."
Despite this personal victory, the film did not achieve the same level of success as "Twilight," receiving a modest average rating of 2.3 out of 5 from AlloCiné viewers and selling only 41,702 tickets in France.
Today, Jennifer Lawrence has firmly established her place in Hollywood, having won an Oscar and even transitioned into directing with her upcoming project, "Project Delirium." This comedy, adapted from a 2012 article in the New Yorker, explores military doctors conducting experiments on soldiers during the Cold War.
