Stars Align in Dystopian Sci-Fi Action: Trailer for 'Kill Code'
The new cyberpunk thriller 'Kill Code' features notable stars like Harvey Keitel and Tyrese Gibson, but its AI-generated visuals may raise concerns for purists. Find out more about its plot and release details.

The recently released cyberpunk thriller "Kill Code" in the United States features a lineup of familiar stars, though purists may want to approach it with caution. The film's trailer showcases several images that are clearly generated by artificial intelligence.

Set in a grim future dominated by a powerful corporation wielding extreme violence, "Kill Code" embodies a classic cyberpunk narrative. The film stars several actors who were once prominent but have recently focused on B-movie projects. It is directed by Justin Price, known for his work on low-budget mockbusters such as "The Mummy Rebirth" and "The 13th Friday."
The trailer for "Kill Code" reinforces its B-movie classification. The fact that the film was shot back in 2022 but is only now being released raises some eyebrows. However, this does not necessarily mean that "Kill Code" won't provide some entertainment, despite its sections that are noticeably aided by artificial intelligence.
North American genre fans have been able to check out the film since July 24, 2026, as it has been made available on Video-on-Demand. Currently, there is no information regarding a German release date for "Kill Code."
As previously mentioned, "Kill Code" (originally titled "Hard Matter") features several well-known names, including Harvey Keitel from Quentin Tarantino's classics "Reservoir Dogs" and "Pulp Fiction," Tyrese Gibson from the "Fast & Furious" franchise, Brett Cullen from "The Blacklist," and Marvel villain Frank Grillo, known for his roles in "The Return of the First Avenger" and "Avengers: Endgame."
However, these actors appear to play only minor supporting roles, having likely spent just a few days on set. The lead role is taken by Franzi Schissler, a relatively unknown actress who is also one of the producers and financiers of the film. Since the last scene was shot four years ago, Schissler has worked with director Justin Price on another project, an unreleased monster action film titled "Omega."
Plot Overview of 'Kill Code'
The story unfolds in a post-World War III America, which has been devastated and divided into quadrants. In this setting, nanoscientist Eion (Harvey Keitel) leads the powerful megacorporation Alpire. Alpire develops a nanovirus embedded in a special wristwatch, enabling them to transform wearers into killers at will. In secret, Eion is working on a "D-Day" plan to force the entire population to wear these watches, thereby achieving absolute control.
When Alpire employee Elera (Franzi Schissler) uncovers these plans, she joins a burgeoning revolutionary movement led by her father Sawyer (Brett Cullen). Together, they devise a strategy to thwart the impending "D-Day" and avenge the recent murder of Elera's mother by Alpire.
