A Journey Beyond the Barbershop: Connecting Cultures Through Barbering
A barbering journey connecting Mexico, Argentina, and Spain through shared experiences and community building.
Four cities. Five events. Three barbers. Mexico, Argentina, and Spain united by a shared passion.
Recent weeks have been a whirlwind of emotions, learning, and genuine connections. I had the privilege of sharing this journey with Diego and Cheche, two remarkable professionals who have made every moment even more meaningful.
Our adventure began in Barcelona with a dinner among friends that set the tone for something extraordinary. The experience unfolded at the PSBI show, which held personal significance as it marked my return to the venue where I performed my first show 15 years ago. This moment prompted reflection on the journey I have undertaken.
The next stop was Madrid, where we gathered at the Provaliance University, thanks to my great friend and exceptional host, Alex. The day kicked off uniquely, with Alberto’s guitar creating an indescribable atmosphere. The training session was nothing short of incredible: vibrant energy, models, attendees, and brands came together for an experience that transcended technical skills.
Following Madrid, we traveled to Alicante, visiting the academy of my good friend Abel. This was undoubtedly the most attended training of the tour. Although the format was different from what I was accustomed to and not my personal favorite, it provided another opportunity for growth and sharing. After all, that is the essence of our journey: to grow together.
The tour continued to Vinarós, where our dear friend Tian welcomed us. Here, Cheche introduced “The Barber’s Lottery,” an original initiative that emphasized the importance of community within our profession. These moments remind us that barbering is not just a trade but a means of fostering connections.
As with all such experiences, it concluded all too quickly. Each of us returned to our routines, but we carried something new within us. For me, this gathering held special significance; I felt a deep sense of gratitude toward my friends, especially after my five trips to Argentina and all the experiences shared last year. It was time to give back, to be present, and to share from a different perspective.
Now, it’s time for something equally important: to pause, organize my thoughts, and refocus.
My barbershop. My brands. My team. My family. And my mental health. Because ultimately, it is futile to rush if you do not know your destination.
