In its second week, Spider-Man: Brand New Day continues to impress at the box office, experiencing only a 59% drop in revenue. The film raked in an additional $45 million, bringing its total to an impressive $655 million in the US, and achieving a global milestone of $1.01 billion within just a week of its release. This remarkable performance has set a new record and delighted cinema operators across the United States.
Meanwhile, The Odyssey remains a strong contender, surpassing the $1 billion mark with a total of $1.104 billion. This achievement marks Christopher Nolan's first film to reach such heights since his Batman series, solidifying Tom Holland's and Zendaya's status as prominent stars in the current US cinema landscape. Sadie Sink is also gaining traction, further enhancing the star power of this trio. The question remains: how far can they go?
On the other hand, some films are struggling to find their footing. Just for One Night, a romantic comedy featuring Callum Turner and Monica Barbaro, takes place in a dystopian setting where couples can only spend one night together before marriage. The film only earned $5 million, indicating a lack of success, and has stirred controversy due to the director’s decision to cut sex scenes, claiming that audiences had lost interest. It seems that Universal Pictures may not always hit the mark.
In a brighter note, Des Minions et des monstres is making a comeback with a total of $473 million, although it remains uncertain if this will be the franchise's best performance.
