Brand New Day has captured the attention of audiences across France, selling an impressive 3,237,480 tickets in its opening week. This figure marks the best first week since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic and ranks as the 9th highest opening week in French cinema history. Notably, this new release outstrips the opening of its previous installment, No Way Home, which garnered 2,867,515 admissions during its debut week in December 2021.
With this achievement, Brand New Day now sits between Le Roi Lion (2019) with 3,252,896 admissions and Les Aventures de Tintin: le secret de la licorne at 3,158,313 admissions. It trails only behind Avengers: Endgame, which remains in 6th place.
As for L'Odyssée, it continues to draw audiences, despite the fierce competition from the new Spider-Man film. The film has added 1,232,364 admissions this week, bringing its total to 4,691,795. This strong performance indicates that it is on track to surpass Nolan's previous French success, Inception, which stands at 4,944,215 admissions.
The top ten box office rankings have remained consistent from the previous week, with each film shifting down a spot to accommodate Brand New Day at the top.
In addition to these highlights, the La Bataille De Gaulle diptych remains robust, with minimal drops in admissions. The first part saw a decrease of only 10%, while the second part dropped 19% and is nearing the 2 million admissions mark. Furthermore, Toy Story 5 has crossed the 4 million admissions threshold.
Lastly, outside the top ten, the re-release of Lawrence of Arabia has performed admirably, achieving 9,091 admissions in its first week, placing it at 23rd.
