31st International Film Festival Kicks Off in Valencia

The 31st edition of the Valencia International Film Festival, known as Cinema Jove, has officially begun, organized by the Institut Valencià de Cultura with support from the local government and private enterprises. The festival's programming was unveiled by key figures including Albert Girona, the Secretary of Culture, Abel Guarinos, the director of the Institut Valencià de Cultura, and Rafael Maluenda, the festival director.

This year, the festival features a competitive lineup that includes 10 films in the Official Feature Film Section, 58 short films in the Official Short Film Section, and a new Official Web Series Section with 20 entries, all showcasing international talent.

Among the highlights, the festival will honor Franco-Cambodian filmmaker Rithy Panh, who will receive the prestigious Luna de Valencia Award and present a retrospective of his works. Additionally, the Un Futuro de Cine Award will be bestowed upon actress Ingrid García-Jonsson and actor Daniel Grao.

In the short film programming, attendees can look forward to three programs within the Panorama Valenciano Section, which highlights the best works from Valencian authors and productions made in the region.

The festival's diverse programming also includes a retrospective from the Sarajevo Film Festival and a special cycle commemorating the legendary meeting between Alfred Hitchcock and François Truffaut. Furthermore, the O!pla Across the Borders program will feature animated short films, showcasing award-winning works from the O!pla festival in Poland.
