Jason Segel's Embarrassing Premiere Moment in 'Forgetting Sarah Marshall'
Jason Segel recounts an embarrassing moment with his parents at the premiere of 'Forgetting Sarah Marshall,' where they unexpectedly saw him in a full-frontal scene.

Jason Segel's parents will never forget a particular scene from their son's film, which turned out to be more embarrassing than humorous for them. This revelation came during an interview with Sean Evans on the show Hot Ones, where Segel recounted the awkwardness surrounding the film's premiere.
The 2008 British comedy Forgetting Sarah Marshall, directed by Nicholas Stoller, is well-remembered not just for its carefree humor but also for its memorable opening scene featuring Segel in the nude. While audiences found this hilarious, it was a different story for the actor's parents, who were not prepared for such a shocking reveal.
The Unfortunate Joke at the Premiere
During the premiere, Segel had the idea of surprising his parents by not informing them about his full-frontal nudity in the film. He humorously described his expectations, saying, "I thought it would be a great practical joke not to tell my parents that I did full frontal nudity... Five minutes into the movie, my penis appears, and I turn to my mom, expecting her to burst out laughing."
However, the reality was far from what he envisioned. His mother’s reaction was one of shock: "She was as red as a tomato, and a tear rolled down her cheek. She asked me, 'Why didn’t you tell me?' I replied, 'I thought it would be a joke.' She shot back, 'This is not a joke.'" The moment was undoubtedly a shocking revelation for the family.

A Quick Family Recovery
Despite the cringe-worthy moment, Segel’s mother managed to regain control of the situation. That very evening, she sent a message to family members to prevent any potential family drama from unfolding. In her message, she wrote, "Jason chose to do a full-frontal scene. However, it is not gratuitous and is essential to the plot."
In Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Segel portrays Peter Bretter, a musician who is heartbroken after being dumped by his girlfriend, Sarah Marshall (played by Kristen Bell). In an attempt to move on, he travels to Hawaii, only to encounter his ex with her new boyfriend, Aldous (Russell Brand). This leads to a series of comedic events, making the nude scene even more memorable in the context of the story.
