Hello friends! Today I’m going to talk about a highly requested topic: eyeliner. The right eyeliner can be our best friend or our worst enemy. A perfect line enhances the eyes and elongates the gaze, but a small mistake can ruin the entire look. Don’t despair! Today I’ll share the most common mistakes we make when using it and, most importantly, how to avoid them.

1. Choosing the Wrong Type of Eyeliner

It’s important to know that each formula has its purpose. A liquid eyeliner can be great for a precise and defined look, but if you’re looking for a more natural finish, a blendable pencil will be your best choice.

2. Not Preparing the Eyelid Properly

An oily or unprepared eyelid can ruin your eyeliner in just a few hours. Use a specific primer or a bit of concealer set with translucent powder to prolong its wear.

3. Starting with Large Strokes

Trying to create the perfect line in one stroke is very challenging. It’s better to start with short strokes and gradually connect them for better control and precision.

4. Making the Line Too Thick

The key is to adapt it to your eye shape. If you have small eyes or hooded lids, a line that is too thick can make your eyes appear smaller. Opt for thinner, upward lines.

5. Not Matching Both Eyes

Symmetry is difficult even for professionals, and it’s very common for the eyeliner to not look exactly the same on both eyes. To avoid this, first draw the wing on both sides and then fill in the line inward, continuously checking that they look alike.

6. Using Old or Dry Products

Dry or expired eyeliner can make application difficult, resulting in undefined and uneven lines, as well as potential skin issues. Make sure to refresh your products once they are no longer in good condition.

7. Not Correcting Small Mistakes

It’s okay if you make a small mistake while lining. Use a cotton swab dampened with micellar water or makeup remover to correct minor flaws and perfect your eyeliner without having to start over. You can also correct with a flat, straight brush and a bit of concealer.

8. Not Setting the Eyeliner

If you tend to have your eyeliner transfer to the upper eyelid, use a shadow of the same color over your eyeliner to set it. This will significantly increase its longevity and prevent unwanted smudges.

9. Not Considering the Natural Shape of Your Eye

Every eye is different, and it’s important to respect your natural shape for the eyeliner to look harmonious. Think about your eye type and how you want it to look or what you want to highlight in your gaze.

10. Forgetting to Blend if Necessary

Sometimes, an overly defined line can look harsh or unflattering, especially for daytime or more natural makeup. Lightly blending with a fine brush or a soft pencil can give your look a softer and more natural touch.

11. Neglecting Hydration

If the skin on your eyelids is dry, the eyeliner can appear cracked or uneven. Make sure to hydrate your eyelids daily with a specific eye cream.

12. Not Practicing Enough

Eyeliner is a matter of practice. If you feel that you still can’t get it perfect, don’t get frustrated. Practice at home in your free time to gain precision and confidence.

This way, you’ll avoid these mistakes and achieve impeccable eyeliner in just a few minutes.
