Alan Ritchson Addresses Batman Rumors at Comic-Con

Alan Ritchson, known for his role in the hit Amazon series as Jack Reacher, has expressed a preference for portraying Batman over his current character. During the San Diego Comic-Con, Ritchson revisited the speculation surrounding his potential involvement with the iconic superhero.

Three years ago, filmmaker Kevin Smith referred to Ritchson's Jack Reacher as a "Batman without a cape," which flattered the 43-year-old actor. Ritchson remarked that the Dark Knight is undoubtedly cooler than his military-police character, noting that Batman has a high-tech lair filled with gadgets, while Reacher lacks even a home. He shared his admiration for the character in an interview with Fortress of Solitude.

The most exciting news for fans is Ritchson's candid admission that he would love the opportunity to play Batman. He mentioned his ongoing discussions with DC about potential collaborations, indicating that while he is eager to take on the role, it may not happen in the immediate future. At the "Reacher" panel at Comic-Con, he stated:

"I feel like I should address this because it keeps coming up. I don’t want to give anyone the impression that… I’ve talked to DC about how we want to approach it, as we would love to work together. Never say never – maybe Batman will come, but not anytime soon; we are currently discussing another character."

The Future of DC Characters for Ritchson

While Ritchson's hopes of becoming Batman seem distant for now, there is still a demand for a new actor to take on the role. Warner Bros. is developing "The Brave and the Bold," which will explore the relationship between Bruce Wayne, aka Batman, and his son, Damian Wayne. Andy Muschietti, known for his work on "The Flash," is set to direct this project, leaving the search for a new Batman ongoing. However, Ritchson tempered expectations, stating:

"I don’t think Batman is in the cards for me, as much as I would love to do it."

Given that Jason Momoa has transitioned to playing Lobo, the role of Aquaman is currently open. Ritchson has previously portrayed Aquaman in "Smallville" and Hank Hall, aka Hawk, in "Titans." There are suggestions that he could fit other DC characters, with his impressive stature making him a great candidate for roles like Wildcat or Captain Atom.
