An Award-Winning Car Seat with Airbag, Considered a Revolution for Children

Choosing the right equipment for the car often feels like an obstacle course for parents navigating between standards and crash tests. The Cybex Anoris T2 car seat with airbag has just won everyone over by receiving the prestigious Road Safety Innovation Award 2026.

Airbag Technology for Maximum Safety

The big winner of this 2026 edition: the Anoris T2 i-Size model from Cybex has received the prestigious trophy in its category. What impressed the jury, chaired by Estelle Balit, the inter-ministerial delegate for road safety, is an innovation still rare in our vehicles. This seat integrates a full airbag hidden directly in its impact shield. In the event of a frontal collision, the system activates in a fraction of a second to form a protective cocoon in the shape of a C around the child.

This invention specifically protects the most vulnerable areas of young children, namely the head, neck, and body. By slowing the forward movement much more gradually than a traditional system, this airbag drastically reduces the pressure exerted on the abdomen. This is a major advancement considering that the forces deployed during sudden braking can be particularly violent for growing bodies.

Forward-Facing Becomes a More Peaceful Option for Parents

It is well known that the rear-facing position is the gold standard recommendation from experts to protect the cervical spine of younger children. However, the reality of daily life is often different.

According to data shared during the award ceremony, 80% of parents end up turning their child's seat to face the road much earlier than recommended. The reasons are simple and understandable: the need to interact with their little one, the desire to monitor them in the rearview mirror, or simply to calm cries related to isolation.

This Anoris T2 i-Size model, suitable for children from approximately 15 months to 7 years, positions itself as the ideal compromise. It allows for the convenience of forward-facing while offering a level of protection that approaches rear-facing safety standards thanks to its active shield. To make our lives even easier, LED indicators have been added to confirm that the installation is perfect. This is the kind of detail that prevents a thousand questions once the engine is started.

Innovation Also Accompanies the Growth of Older Children

Road safety does not stop at early ages, and this year's awards highlight other gems for growing children. Notably, the Axkid Up system, a booster seat that also received the jury's honors. Its uniqueness lies in an ultra-fine adjustment of the backrest height, as well as the seat. This allows for accommodating the changing morphology of children for as long as possible, ensuring that the seatbelt is always optimally positioned on the shoulder and not on the neck.

The important thing remains to choose equipment suitable for your child's size and, above all, to never skip checking the fixings before each departure, even for a two-minute trip.
