Charles Bronson's Missed Opportunity Charles Bronson was approached to play the role of Tuco, which eventually went to Eli Wallach, but he was already committed to "The Dirty Dozen." Leone would later direct Bronson in "Once Upon a Time in the West." Gian Maria Volonte was also considered for the role of Tuco.
