What to Expect in Season 3 of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power
In this upcoming season, the Middle-earth is engulfed in war. Five years have passed since the fall of Eregion, and Sauron's armies have swept across the land, conquering everything in their path. Only a few isolated strongholds stand between the Dark Lord and total victory: Khazad-dûm, the Dwarves' underground home, and the Elven realms of Lindon and Rivendell, safeguarded by the Three Rings. Meanwhile, in the depths of Mordor, at his newly completed tower of Barad-dûr, the Dark Lord toils day and night, obsessed with acquiring a power that will bring even his last enemies to their knees: One Ring to rule them all... The free peoples of Middle-earth—Dwarves, Elves, Men, and Wizards—must find a way to unite in a race against time to prevent Sauron from achieving his goal of absolute dominion over all life.
The third season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is produced by showrunners and executive producers J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay, joined by executive producers Lindsey Weber, Justin Doble, Kate Hazell, and director Charlotte Brandstrom. Matthew Penry-Davey serves as the series producer, alongside co-producers Ally O’Leary, Tim Keene, and Andrew Lee.
This series has brought to life the heroic legends of the Second Age of Middle-earth for the very first time. Set thousands of years before the events of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, it transports viewers to a distant era when great powers were forged, kingdoms rose to glory and fell into ruin, unlikely heroes faced trials, hope hung by the thinnest of threads, and the greatest villain ever conceived by Tolkien threatened to plunge the world into darkness. The narrative follows a diverse cast of characters, both familiar and new, as they confront the feared resurgence of evil in Middle-earth. From the darkest depths of the Misty Mountains to the majestic forests of Lindon, the Elven capital, and the stunning island kingdom of Númenor to the farthest reaches of the map, these realms and characters will leave behind a legacy destined to endure long after their demise.
